Spectacular Whale Watching Tours in the Azores!

In the heart of the Atlantic Ocean, the Azores, there’s a very special place. It’s called Mosteiros, a most astonishing hideout of the big and beautiful island of São Miguel. Here, we give you the chance to watch wild sea animals in their natural habitat and behaviours.

This whale watching tour is dedicated to the sea and its wonders, where you’ll be able to observe the wildlife that abounds in the outskirts of the Azorean shores. We recommend going to the beach or natural pools; they’re beautiful!

Highlights

At Mosteiros we are privileged by our location; at the west part of the island, we find refuge, relaxation, and peace from all the noise from traffic and city lights, as do the whales, turtles, dolphins, and fish we find out here. There are more than 25 cetacean species that you can observe here.

The Azorean whale’s migration route is a good indicator that you’ll surely see whales around here, but we believe that there are some resident specimens around the area, especially sperm whales, throughout the whole year. It’s truly life abundant.

What You Can Expect

At our base, you will be given a life jacket, a light waterproof jacket and a briefing by our professional guide about what you can expect to see and about our safety procedures. After that, we’ll head out to the port (one minute by foot) and into the boat, then we will head out to the positions given by our whale spotter at land.

The whale watching tour will last about two or three hours and then we’ll head back to our office where and share with you some additional info about the animals that we saw on the trip. Please remember that the animals are in their home, wandering in the great sea, and because of that, the sighting of Azores whales is not guaranteed.

When participating in a Whale Watching tour with our team and no cetaceans (whales or dolphins) are seen, you are offered an opportunity to go out with us again, within 30 days, free of charge, always depending on the availability of the client and the company, as well as the weather and sea. If you cannot rebook your tour, a full refund will be issued. As we work with wild animals in the Atlantic ocean, we have the risk of not always being able to see them, however, with a 99% success rate, we can guarantee that our team will always do their best to prevent this from happening!
